Veg manchurian recipe - How to make Vegetable Manchurian

Veg Manchurian or Vegetable Manchurian Gravy Recipe is made of hot Vegetable balls and are Indochinese starter dish which tastes well tangy sauce.

Risk Factor:
Cauliflower and Cabbage are not good for people suffering with Thyroid especially with Hypo Thyroidism. Occasionally is good but people with higher levels of either Hypo Thyroid should strictly stop cauliflower and cabbage intake.

Goitrogenic Foods:
Some foods when eaten raw and in large quantities naturally contain chemicals that promote Goiter (Enlarged Thyroid Goiter i.e., a bulge in the neck area) and cause Hypo Thyroidism in some people. These chemicals are known as "Goitrogens".
Also Soy foods (like soya beans, mealmaker etc) should not be consumed.
Some foods that are high in Goitrogens include cabbage, Brussels, sprouts, broccoli, turnips, rutabagas, kohlrabi, radishes, cauliflower, African cassava, millet and Kale.

Ingredients:

For Vegetable Balls:
1. Cabbage - 1 & 1/2 cup (finely chopped)
2. Carrots - 1 & 1/2 cup (peeled & finely grated)
3. Onions - 1/2 cup (finely chopped)
4. Garlic Cloves - 4 (finely chopped)
5. Ginger garlic paste - 1 tsp
6. Rice Flour - 5 tbsps (Actual recipe contains 2 tbsps corn flour and 5 tbsps of maida instead of rice flour)
7. Salt - As per taste
8. Red Chilli Powder - 1 tsp (Actual recipe contains 2 finely chopped Green Chillies)
9. Turmeric Powder - 1 tsp (Optional)
10. Oil - For deep frying

For Sauce:

1. Garlic Cloves - 6 (finely chopped)
2. Onions - 1/4 cup (finely chopped)
3. Ginger - 1 tsp (finely chopped)
4. Salt - As per taste
5. Red Chilli Powder - 1 tsp (Actual recipe contains 2 finely chopped green chillies)
6. Tomato Sauce - 2 tbsps
7. Soya Sauce - 1 tbsp (I didn't have it in store so I didn't use it)
8. Corn flour - 1 tbsp (mixed with water)
9. Water - 1 cup (Can use vegetable stalk)
10. Oil - 1tbsp

Procedure:

For Vegetable balls:
1. Combine ingredients for making veg balls in a bowl. Mix well.

2. Shape mixture to small lemon-sized balls. If you find it difficult to form balls, sprinkle a little water to bind the mixture. My carrots were very juicy so I didn't add any water to bind the dough.

3. Deep fry the balls in hot oil until golden brown. Drain on absorbent paper and keep aside.

For Sauce:

1. Heat oil in a sauce pan on a medium to high flame. Add the garlic cloves, ginger, onions and stir fry over a high flame for a few seconds.

2. Add soya sauce, tomato sauce, salt, red chilli powder, water and cornflour paste and simmer for a few minutes. As you add corn flour paste it starts thickening. Make it a semi-liquid consistency.

How to serve

1. Just before serving, put the vegetable balls in the sauce and bring to a boil. Serve hot.
